‘Creation Museum’ in Kentucky

It seems that deep in Kentucky some idiot has spent US$25M on building a museum that expounds the virtues of the Bible story to the point of the Bible being a totally accurate story of the earths evolution discarding hundreds of years of scientific research and the Vatican’s stand the evolution actually took place as put forward by science.

What is more frightening is that in an MSN poll, 35% of those polled believed that everything written in the bible is 100% true. Now, I have yet to meet a theologian that believes that!

Dinosaurs and humans running around at the same time, the earth has only been around for 5,000 years! Oops there go the Aborigines in Australia.

“If the Bible is the word of God, and its history really is true, that’s our presupposition or axiom, and we are starting there,” said museum founder Ken Ham. I would suggest strongly that Kentucky State officials have this gentleman held for psychiatric observation!

Of course there is the matter of free speech, but there is also the matter of the lack of education in the USA. And there is a grand lack of education in most areas of the US. Whilst there are exceptionally talented and educated people in the US the advent of MTV, cell phones, computers and those dreaded websites like myspace have added to the general dulling of the intelligence in the USA. This dulling has also grasped other countries like the UK and once intellectual advanced countries like Japan and Korea. The internet frm where most information is now garnered by people, itself is a double edged sword, free access to for all to all can also become free access to dumb shit like creationism.

What creationism does is give people who are too lazy to think about a problem a way of not taking responsibility for their own thoughts. Most religions do this; creationism has taken it a step further. The root cause of this might well be the fault of teachers and scientists who cannot explain properly what evolution is all about. It is often explained in such way as if Evolution or Natural Selection had a purposeful mind of its own. This is of course not true. Mutation is the backbone of evolution. Mutations that have an advantage over existing parameters and situations thrive. Some mutations were is no advantage die out.

It is a sad day for America and the rest of the world, it will become a catastrophe if this ludicrous idea took hold and spread around the world.
